New research papers from beòcarta

Two new research papers from beòcarta: gluconic acid synthesis by Aspergillus oryzae (usually known as an industrial source of itaconic acid and lovastatin) and glucose use by Streptomyces clavuligerus. Two manuscripts deriving from work by beòcarta’s Ph.D. student, Catherine Dowdells, have been submitted for publication. These new findings emerged from work undertaken during the EU-funded project ANTICO in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde and the National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

In an event dominated by wind turbine engineering, this talk tackled head-on the nagging question of why cellulosic ethanol production had stalled. Too many rival technologies?
